Patricia A. (Sullivan) Murphy, of Medford, formerly of Cambridge, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, August 2nd at the Maplewood Center in Amesbury. She was 74.
Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Agnes M. (Gorman) Sullivan. Following high school graduation, Patricia began her career with Harvard University. She worked for Harvard for twenty years as an office manager in the Information Technology Department. She was responsible for telephone communication systems. In 2008 she retired from Harvard to spend more time with family and friends.
In Patricia's spare time she enjoyed visiting with her children, grandchildren and cooking. She was a lover of all animals and spent much of her time with her beloved pets.
Patricia was the devoted mother of Vincent J. Murphy of Middleton and Christopher M. Murphy and his wife Jennifer of Atkinson, New Hampshire. She was the loving grandmother of Lauren Russo and her husband Craig of Amesbury, Erin, Ashlyn and Kendall Murphy, all of Atkinson, New Hampshire. Patricia was the dear sister of Mary Ellen Sullivan and her husband Norman Schwartz of California and Sharon Sullivan of North Andover. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Patricia was preceded in death by her siblings Sheila McCarthy and John Sullivan.
A memorial service will be celebrated in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Wednesday, August 9th at 6PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family from 4 through 6PM. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
