Jeanette A. (Pelopida) Colavecchio, 83, formerly of Johnston, passed away August 3, 2017. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Eliseo and Ida (Messore) Pelopida. Beloved daughter-in-law of Julio and Edwina Colavecchio.
Jan lived in Johnston for over 50 years before moving to Smithfield. She was the owner and face of Mineral Spring Tanning for over 23 years. She was a selfless and caring woman to family and friends. She loved Sunday dinners with her whole family, baking to excess and her hobby was shopping.
She was the loving mother of Robert Colavecchio and his wife, Pat, of Connecticut, Janice Carello and her husband, Robert, of Smithfield, Richard Colavecchio and his wife, Laurie, from Smithfield, John Colavecchio from Massachusetts, Julie Vespia and her husband, Alan, from New Jersey, and Russell Colavecchio and his wife, Gina, from Johnston. She was the caring grandmother of Janel Michl, Breann Hadi, Joseph Carello, Michael and Zachary Vespia, Samantha, Danielle, Zoe and Nicholas Colavecchio and great grandmother of Julianna, Brayden and Dylan Michl, Enzo Coccia and Isla Hadi. Sister of Anthony Pelopida, and the late Joseph, Larry, Louis Pelopida, Helen Silvio, Lisa Boffi, Connie Tessitore and Ann DiCaprio.
Her funeral will be held Saturday at 10:30am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11 a.m. in St. Michael’s Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield, followed by burial at Highland Cemetery, Johnston. Visiting hours will be from 8:30 – 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jan’s memory may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
