Obituary

Kelley, Michael Francis of Back Bay, Boston, passed away unexpectedly on July 21, at the age of 59. He was the beloved brother of Susan Raftice and her husband Robert, of Scarborough, Maine, Jean M. Kelley and her daughter Oksana of Chestnut Hill, MA, John E. Kelley of North Chelmsford, MA, and Kathleen A. Kelley and her daughter Lauren of Norwood, MA. Michael is also survived by nieces and nephews Maureen Harvey and husband Michael, and Kathleen Raftice of South Portland, ME, Robert Raftice, Jr. of Cape Elizabeth, ME, Eileen Lemelin and husband Scott of Scarborough, ME, and James Raftice and wife Heather of Cumberland, ME, as well as many great nieces and nephews and cousins.

Michael had a huge spirit and magnetic personality and was always the center of every group. He was a mainstay at Lord and Taylor in Boston, where he managed the Men’s Department for more than 15 years, and where he worked with many friends and colleagues. He was proud of the team he put together there. Every Summer Michael rented a house at Higgins Beach in Maine with his brother John, and he always enjoyed playing the host at picnics in the back yard, overlooking the salt marshes. On the 4th of July, Michael took charge of buying and setting off fireworks on the beach, providing excitement especially for his nieces Lauren and Oksana, who helped with the shows. We will all miss Michael terribly. A memorial service for Michael will be held at the Paulist Center at 5 Park Street, Boston, on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Michael's memory to American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave. Waltham, MA 02451.
