Obituary

John F. Moreland, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017 while enjoying a game of golf which was a passion of John’s. John is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Mary (O’Leary) Moreland, his son John L. Moreland and his wife Andrea of Weymouth and his grandchildren, Olivia and Johnny Moreland both of Weymouth. He also leaves his sister, Ursula Swain of Delaware and numerous nieces and nephews.
John was born and grew up in Albany, NY, graduated from Christian Brothers Academy and attended Manhattan College before graduating from Boston College. He has lived in Weymouth for the last 45 years and was the owner of the Public Phone Store in Weymouth for 33 years before retiring in 2015. John served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War where he was stationed in Okinawa.
John loved playing golf and was a member of the Braintree Golf Course and a lifelong fan of the New York Giants.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours for John on Sunday, August 6 from 2-6 PM in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth, MA. Relatives and friends will gather at the funeral home on Monday at 8:30 AM for a Celebration of Life prior to the Funeral Mass in honor of John which will be held at 9:30 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church in Weymouth.
