Joanne L. (Assetta) Iovino passed away peacefully at home on July 30, 2017. She was 70 years old.
Joanne was a longtime resident of Malden and a longtime public school educator for the Malden Public Schools. She was the past president and board member of the Malden Victorian Society, past board member of the Malden Historical Society, member of the Malden Kiwanis Club, and a founding member of the Malden High School Alumni Association.
Joanne was the beloved wife of 46 years to Leonard “Lenny” Iovino. She was the loving mother of Joe Iovino and his wife Katie of Malden. Joanne was the sister of the late Louis Assetta and his surviving wife Sheila. She was the sister in-law of Lucille Marshall and her daughter Lucille both of Henderson, NV. Joanne was the dear aunt of Michael Maresco, Guy Assetta, and Lisa Porro, and beloved cousin of Lorraine O’Leary. She is also survived by numerous friends and cousins.
The funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Thursday August 3rd at 9:00am followed by a funeral Mass in Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, 26 Washington Street, Malden at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3-8pm. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
