Augusta, GA---Dorothy R. “Dot” Ashe, 91, entered into rest on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Kentwood Extended Care.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 5, 2017 in the Platt’s Funeral Home Crawford Avenue Chapel with Dr. Kenneth Word officiating, with Donald C. Hancock offering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
Miss Ashe was born in Miami, Florida, but had lived most of her life in Augusta. She attended the Houghton Elementary School and graduated from Tubman High School for Girls, then completed studies in Library Education at Augusta University. She was a member of the Library Staff for Morale Support at Fort Gordon for 34 years, retiring in 1991. Following her retirement, she traveled extensively in Europe, Washington, DC, to the beach and mountains. She enjoyed reading any subject, especially History. She was a member and was the Church Historian at The Hill Baptist Church.
Dot was preceded in death by her parents, Lester E. and Ethel McCardle Ashe and three brothers, Richard Ashe, Robert D. Ashe and Doyle Ashe.
She is survived by nieces, Donna Marie Small (Robert) of Edgewater, FL and Yvonne Payne (R. J.) of Spokane, WA, nephews, Dennis Ashe (Brenda) of Hixson, TN, Glen Ashe (Sarah) of Waynesboro, GA, Curt Ashe of Waynesboro, GA and Rick Ashe (Beverly) of Patterson, NY and by numerous great and great great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Charles Ferguson, John Rucker, George Franklin, Billy Boyd, Frank Yarborough, and Paul Perdue.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 4, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Platt’s Funeral Home Crawford Avenue.
