Obituary

Eileen C. (Purtell) Lord passed peacefully on Monday, July 31, 2017. A longtime Quincy resident she formerly lived in Westwood. Eileen was born in Boston, grew up in Mattapan and was a graduate of Hyde Park High School. During those years she was an active member of “The Bishop Regan Club.” A loving and supportive wife and mother, Eileen lived for family and in her later years spent as much time as possible spoiling her grandchildren. She had a passion for antiques and collectibles, visited yard sales regularly, and whenever possible attended “antiquing events” such as the Brimfield Fair. She retired from her position as Office Manager of the Robert V. Wallace Real Estate Co. The beloved wife of the late Edward A. Lord, she is survived by her devoted children; Edward A. Lord Jr. and his wife Isabella of Wrentham, Theresa M. Lord and her husband Brian of Weymouth, Donna C. Clapp and her husband Stephen of Braintree and Daniel C. Lord of Dedham. Cherished grandmother of Rachel Lord, Lee Edward Piatelli, Samantha Lord and Bridget Clapp. Dear sister of Anne Lord of Quincy and the late Dorothy Farrell, Audrey Smith, Gloria Sweeney, Rev. John Purtell, James Purtell, and Edward Purtell. Funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Church, Quincy Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 10 am. Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Milton, Wednesday 4 to 7 PM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis TN 38148.
