Edmund L. “Ned” Connolly age 72 of Sharon passed away July 26th at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Brockton, he was raised in Canton and attended BC High, Boston College and Northeastern University. Ned enjoyed a long career in the electronics industry. Starting at Texas Intruments TI supply division while still a college student at Boston College, he worked as a sales engineer at Texas Intruments, AVX Interconnect, Aved Electronics and Viking Electronics. He was Northeast Regional Sales Manager at PCD Inc and retired as the Engineering/Design Manager at Aved. Outside of work Ned 's favorite pastime was golf but he also enjoyed woodworking, landscaping, metal working, and engine repair and everything to do with cars and computers . Ned was a true Renaissance man and appreciated old crafts like bookbinding while embracing all of the new technology. Ned was a member of Walpole Country Club for 35 years and enjoyed his many friendships with all the members. He took great pride in his duties as the Chairman of the Handicap Committee and the countless hours he spent on managing the results. He was also a member of the Greens Committee as well as a MGA Course Rater responsible for visiting area golf clubs and rating their golf course. He was an active participant in all the golf events including winning the Walpole Cup three times. Beloved husband of Joyce (Forsythe). Son of the late William E. and Frances E. (Flynn) Connolly. Brother of Susan E. Harris of Wrentham, Virginia M. "Ginger" of Harpswell, Maine, Claire F. Copeland of N. Attleboro, William E. Connolly, Jr. of York, Maine and the late Richard J. Connolly. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral service at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. CANTON Saturday morning at 11 am. Visiting hours prior to the service Saturday morning from 9 to 11 am. Burial Private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ned’s memory to Old Colony Hospice 321 Manley St. W.
