Obituary

Frederick L. Kiley, 74, of Malden, MA, died July 23, 2017 after a lengthy hard fought battle with Cancer.

Fred was better known as Papa Kikki or the Big Guy. He was born and raised in Brockton, MA. He graduated from Brockton High School, Class of 1960. Where he played basketball, football and was on the swim and dive teams. Served in the US Army from 1961-1962 as an MP, stationed in Stuttgart, Germany with his brother Robert. It is also here where he met his first wife, Ingrid Kiley, the mother of his two girls. They were married for 29 years.

Fred had a 50 year career in the airline industry. He retired from British Airways with 48 years of service as a Cargo Supervisor at Logan Int’l Airport. Prior to that he worked for Lufthansa. Papa was an avid New England sports fan and football fanatic who would often travel far and wide to catch his N.E. Patriots play some where around the world even London. He was well known for his stories, jokes and sense of humor which he kept until the very end. A true indication of his will and strength.

Fred loved to travel but hated to fly. He especially enjoyed the beach and body surfing. Some of his favorite trips were Scotland, Ireland, Australia and Hawaii with his family. His final trip was in April where he spent three weeks with his siblings in Florida enjoying the things he loved most, family and sun. Fred’s simple pleasures in life were sharing time with his much beloved grandchildren and his brothers at the Irish American Club where he was an active member.

Fred is survived by daughter Kimberley and her husband Joseph Vitale Jr. of Wellfleet, MA and their children Kara, Joseph, James, and Kiley. His daughter Kristina and her husband Edgar McLean Jr. of Tyngsborough, MA and their son Campbell. Survivors also include sisters Nancy Poisson, Carol Sheehan and brother Robert (all residing in Florida) and numerous nieces and nephews. Fred was pre-deceased by his parents Vincent and Alberta (Prescott) Kiley and his brother Richard.

He was a much loved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and very generous friend to many. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Visiting hours will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home 865 Main Street, Malden on Saturday July 29th from 11:00am-2:00pm. A service will be held at 1:30pm during the visitation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers donations in Fred’s memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
