Obituary

WAYLAND: Brian D. McCarthy, 80, of Gloucester, formerly of Wayland, died on Thursday, July 20, 2017 following a brief illness.
He was born in Chelsea on November 13, 1936 the son of the late Hugh F. McCarthy and Anne (Tiernan) McCarthy.
Brian was the husband of the late Monica H. (Iwanicki) McCarthy who died on April 12, 1990.
He was the loving father four daughters Elizabeth K. McCarthy and her husband Paul Cardinale of Gloucester; Monica Osterman and her husband Steve Osterman of Manchester; Lauren McCarthy of Tampa, FL and Kelly McCarthy and her husband Bruce Armstrong of Wayland. Grandfather of Zachary, Jack and Rachael Hamilton; Alex, Brian, Evan and Olivia Osterman; Devon McCarthy; A.J. and Aaron Sanders. Also survived by his brother Charles McCarthy of Wellfleet and a friend Judi Favazza of Gloucester.
Brian spent his formative years in Chelsea and graduated from Chelsea High School. He received his BS in Engineering from Tufts University and was the founder of High-Tech Sales in Wayland before retiring. He was a longtime resident of Wayland and moved to Gloucester 27 years ago. Brian was a member of the Irish Club of Chelsea, the Model “A” Club and was an accomplished and avid golfer. He was a devoted father and grandfather to his family and will be greatly missed.
At the request of his family there will be no funeral home visitations. Family and friends are invited to his graveside service on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 10:30 am at the McCarthy family lot in Lakeview Cemetery, Commonwealth Road (Rte. 30), Wayland.
