MELVA MARIE (SHELTON) TENNYSON, better known as “Auntie”, 97, went home to her heavenly Father on July 22, 2017 surrounded by family and friends who loved her so much.
Melva was a native of Boonville, IN. where she graduated from Boonville High School after which time she married Jim Tennyson before moving to Louisville, KY. She retired from American Synthetic Rubber Corp. and was a faithful member of Shively Baptist Church before her illness.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her late husband, James “Jim” Tennyson, a nephew and several brothers and sisters.
Auntie Melva is survived by her family members, Beverly Towell, Shelly Towell, Matthew (Beth) Towell, Nehemiah, Jared and Jason; along with numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with entombment in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
Visitation will be from 2 – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
“Auntie was a godly mother, grandmother and auntie to many whom she loved during her lifetime. She will be missed by all who loved her.”
