Obituary

CHICOPEE- Barbara L. "Bobbie" (Gauthier) Seiffert, 81, a former longtime resident of 6th Avenue in the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, July 20, 2017. She passed into Eternal Life at Loomis House in Holyoke surrounded by her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Holyoke on April 26, 1936, a beloved daughter of the late Maurice J. and Estelle N. (Bessette) Gauthier. She was raised in South Hadley, graduated from South Hadley High School and had lived in Holyoke and Chicopee for most of her life. She was employed as a customer service representative with Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Springfield. Previously, she had worked as a waitress for many years at the former Ronnie's Restaurant in Holyoke. Barbara loved traveling, family vacations to the ocean and many trips with friends. But above all, she loved spending time with family at home playing cards and games. She was a fun-loving person with a great sense of humor who always welcomed everyone to her home. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gerald L. "Jerry" Seiffert who was Called Home on January 7, 1993. They were married on October 12, 1957 and enjoyed over 35 years building their lives and family together. She leaves her five loving daughters, Cheryl A. Garrity and her husband, Kevin, of Granby, Pamela J. Seiffert of Chicopee, Dawn M. Gatzounas and her husband, Mark, of South Hadley, Lori A. Vincelette of West Springfield, Kara L. Sargent and her husband, Ernie, of Chicopee; her nine cherished grandchildren, Rory Garrity, Angela Ladue and her husband, Jason, Brianne Zulkiewicz, Madeline and Sophia Gatzounas, Alyssa Vincelette, Alexander Sampson, and Bradley and Grace Sargent; her cherished great-grandson, Jason Ladue; her brother, Donald Gauthier and his wife, Laura, of South Hadley; her two sisters, June Davis and her husband, Norman, of Georgia and Sandy Heroux and her husband, Donald, of Chicopee; her sister-in-law, Nancy Gauthier of Chicopee; and her many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Seiffert and Gauthier families. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her brother, Roger Gauthier; and her sister, Phyllis McNamara and her husband, Robert "Mac" McNamara. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 5:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private at the convenience of her family at Notre Dame Cemetery in South Hadley.
