Obituary

Andre F. Caron, 68, of Berlin, died peacefully at his home on July 21, 2017 with his wife and family at his side, after a long battle with renal cancer.

He was born in Sherbrook, PQ, Canada, the son of Ovila and Aline Caron, on July 30, 1949. He moved to Berlin in 1958 and attended Berlin schools, graduating from Berlin High School in 1967. He graduated from New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord in 1969 and obtained a BA in Business Administration from University System of New Hampshire in 1989. He married his high school sweetheart, Colette Garon, in 1971 and they resided in Manchester, NH where Mr. Caron was employed by New England Telephone and Telegraph. He later worked in Gibraltar and London, England for NYNEX. Following his retirement from NYNEX in 1996, he worked in Africa for Comstar, then for FLAG in Bermuda and Dubai and finally for Conversant in Manchester when he fully retired from telecoms and moved to Berlin, full time. He was employed by the City of Berlin as its first Housing Coordinator from 2004-2013.

Upon making his residence in Berlin in 1999 Mr. Caron was a member of Guardian Angel Parish, now Good Shepherd Parish, where he was an altar server. He was a Board Director of Family Resource Center in Gorham, past member of the Berlin Zoning Board, the Coos Economic Development Corporation and various DES subcommittees. He had also served in the Army National Guard in Manchester, NH.

Family includes his wife of 46 years, Colette of Berlin, his mother Aline Caron of Sherbrooke, PQ, Canada, his brother Michel (Mitch) Caron and wife Cindy, his mother in-law, Jeanne d’Arc Garon, his brothers-in-law Larry Garon and wife Maggie, Andre Garon and wife Linda, sister in-law Estelle Lamontagne and husband Roland, Jr., his nephews and Godsons, Eric and Brad Caron and niece and Goddaughter Amy Welch, all of Berlin, his niece Dr. Kelly Wood of Wyndemere, FL, great nephews Connor Welch of Berlin and Dmitri Wood of FL. Several aunts and cousins in Canada and Berlin. He was predeceased by his father Ovila Caron and a brother Rene Caron.

SERVICES: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday July 24, 2017 at 11 AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Interment will be the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin on Sunday afternoon and evening from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM. Donations in his memory may be made to North Country Home Health & Hospice, 536 Cottage Street, Littleton, NH 03561.
