New Bedford – Harriet A. (McNicholas) Berry passed away peacefully at The Oaks in New Bedford on July 17, 2017 in the presence of loving family, after a period of declining health. She was 82 years old and was the beloved wife of Joseph D. Berry.
Mrs. Berry was born on May 11, 1935 in Chester PA. She graduated from Eddystone High School. Before her retirement, she worked for the New Bedford Public School System and The Standard Times. She was a published poet and a member of the Bartleby Scrivener Poetry group. She enjoyed Chi Gong and seeing her friends at the Mattapoisett COA. She also loved to read, dance and crochet.
Mrs. Berry is survived by her husband, Joseph Berry; sons, Joseph and William Berry; daughters, Rosemary Berry and Eileen Kirton and a foster daughter, Sharon Reed. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Her visiting hours will be held Friday, July 28, 2017 from 3:00-5:00 P.M. A memorial service will also be held during visiting hours. Burial will be private.
