Funeral services will be held at St. John United Methodist Church on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.

Levi was predeceased by his loving wife of forty-four years, Emily. He was born March 19, 1928 in Sandersville, Georgia, son of Levi W. Hill Jr. and Mary Lou Summerlin Hill. He attended Georgia Military College (GMC) in Milledgeville where he played football. He then earned a degree in business from University of Georgia in 1950. Upon his graduation, Levi began work for E.I Dupont, Savannah River Plant and in 1951 joined his father in business at Richmond Supply Company located in Augusta, Georgia. In 1953, he was called into active duty and served as an officer in the United States Air Force, stationed at Donaldson AFB in Greenville, SC.

Upon his discharge from the Air Force, Levi returned to Augusta and Richmond Supply where he would lead the company as its president. Levi married Emily Carter of Toccoa, Georgia in 1958.

In addition to his business life, Levi was a member of St. John United Methodist Church and was active in the community. He served on the Georgia Railroad Bank board for many years and was a charter member of the Uptown Kiwanis Club. Over a span of thirty years, Levi served on a number of affiliated boards at University Hospital in Augusta. He was University’s board chair for four years.

For his decades of service to University and for his contributions beyond, Levi Hill was awarded the prestigious “Distinguished Service Award” by the Georgia Hospital Association in 2007. He loved his association with University Hospital just as he did his fifty years of work at his company, Richmond Supply.

Levi was an avid golfer who enjoyed weekend rounds with his buddies; he was a wonderful storyteller, a natural comedian and an outstanding poet who entertained many of his friends with his clever rhymes and quips. He was a true gentleman, a wonderful father and grandfather and more recently, great grandfather.

Levi is survived by his children, Levi W. Hill IV (Elsie Hill), and Emily Carter Hill Ross (William C. Ross Jr), his grandchildren, Mary Hester Williams (Andrew L. Williams), Levi W. Hill V, Janie Hill, William C. Ross III, Carter Ross, Tyler Ross and a great grandson, Andrew Loren Williams Jr.
