Obituary

Marie C. (Moskaluk) Barry, of Medford, formerly of Somerville, passed away peacefully, at her home on Tuesday, July 18th. She was 89.

Born in Cambridge, she was raised in Somerville and was the daughter of the late William and Lena (Jasko) Moskaluk. Marie graduated from Somerville High School with the class of 1946. She and her husband married on August 1, 1948 at St. Benedict Church in Somerville. Together the two started their family with love and devotion.

Marie was a loving person who cared about everyone in her life. She was devoted to her family and making sure that everyone was successful. While raising her family she worked as an administrator within the mental health industry. She loved her work and was proud of her career.

In her spare time, she enjoyed oil and watercolor painting and making quilts for family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking and baking. Some of her signature dishes were apple pie, banana cake and mincemeat pie. Marie liked going to the beach and years ago the family would go camping annually in Dennis on Cape Cod. In her retirement, Marie and her husband were active participants at the Milano Center in Melrose and the Jenks Center in Winchester.

Marie was the beloved wife of Richard D. Barry, with whom she shared sixty-eight loving years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of Lynn M. Colbert and her husband Edward of Malden, and Patricia A. Barry of Medford. Marie was the loving grandmother of Christine Cerrato and her husband James of Malden, and Amy Colbert and her partner Luke Gosnell of Lynn. She was the loving great grandmother of McKenzie Cerrato of Malden, and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her four siblings.

Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Wednesday, July 26th at 9AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 25th from 4 through 8PM. Services will conclude with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marie's name may be sent to the charitable organization of One's choice.
