Worcester- Jean Irene (Joubert) Lavoie, 73, passed away on July 11, 2017 at UMass Medical Center after a brief illness.
Jean was born in Worcester on July 13, 1943, the daughter of the late Albert and Irene (Paquette) Joubert and attended local schools.
For many years Jean worked in the housekeeping department at UMass Medical Center. An avid sports fan, she especially loved the Red Sox and the New England Patriots. She enjoyed making things with her hands and playing Bingo. Jean was a social butterfly and was very outgoing but could also be strong willed in her beliefs.
Jean is survived by her sons, Raymond Lavoie and Paul Lavoie. She also leaves behind her devoted companion, Alexander Jacoby, Jr., grandson Ronald Sundin, sister Barbara Duquette, and several extended family members.
She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond E. Lavoie in 2009, her son, Ronald Lavoie in 1981 and brother, Albert Joubert, Jr., in 2014.
Jean’s family would like to thank the staff at Umass Medical ICU for the wonderful care they provided to Jean in her final days.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, July 20th at Rural Cemetery, 180 Grove St., Worcester. CALLAHAN, FAY & CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester is assisting the family with services.
