Michael R. Catania, age 19 of Raynham, passed away on July 17, 2017.
He was the beloved son of Richard and Denise (Solakoff) Catania of Raynham.

Michael was employed as a machinist with Teltron Engineering of Foxboro.

Michael was a 2016 graduate of Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical High School. He was a Mayflower Football League two time all-star, and a Bristol-Plymouth Regional High School team MVP in 2015. Michael spent his freshman year on JV, three years on varsity and two years as captain of the varsity football team.

Coach Parris once said he was one of the best, if not the best linebacker he had ever coached in his 23 years, and was a finalist for the annual Otto Graham Football Award in 2015. He was also captain of the Bristol-Plymouth High School lacrosse team, and the first Bristol-Plymouth student to have scored over 100 career goals. Michael excelled in all sports and spent his younger years as an active member of the Raynham Giants Youth Football Team and the Raynham Lacrosse team from second grade to eighth grade.

Michael enjoyed anything outdoors, including camping, hiking, and riding his dirt bike. One of his favorite things in life was spending time with his family and friends. He had a dynamic personality and a voracious appetite for adventure, and was popular with people of all ages.

Besides his parents, he is survived by sisters, Jaclyn Catania of San Jose, CA, Rebecca Catania of Raynham, his twin brother Matthew Catania, who is an active duty Marine stationed in NC, his grandparents Robert and Patricia Solakoff of Brockton, MA, the late August Jay and Florence Catania of Weymouth, MA, numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins, and his long time girlfriend and companion, Amanda Stroud, of Taunton, MA

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 10 am in Saint Ann Church, North Main Street, Raynham. Relatives and friends may meet directly at the church. Interment will be held privately in Pleasant Street Cemetery.
