Obituary

Helen J. Pagel, age 84, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2017 at Mount St Vincent Care Center. Helen was born on October 30, 1932 in Chicopee to the late William and Lucy (Page) Boisvert. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School class of 1950. Helen then married her loving husband William Pagel in 1952 and enjoyed 57 years of marriage before his passing in 2009. She moved to Cape Cod in 1985 with Bill and worked for lawyers and engineers for 8 years before retiring in 1993. Before that she worked as a transcriptionist for Equifax of Springfield. Helen was active in legal Women’s Association and was a communicant of the former Assumption Parish in Chicopee. She loved cooking, gardening, bird watching, trips to the beach, and family activities especially family barbeques and her grandkids sporting events. She leaves 7 children, William A. Pagel and his wife Eleanor of Chicopee, Marie Hurley of Granby, CT, David Pagel and his wife Marcia of Batavia, NY, Richard Pagel and his wife Sandra of Chicopee, Marilyn Woishnis and her husband Michael of Chicopee, Michelle Welch of Jupiter, FL and Maureen Pagel and her life partner Adelina Santos of Chicopee. She also leaves 13 cherished grandchildren Melissa Pagel-Ryczek and William Pagel, Meghann Kearney and Sean Hurley, Michael Woishnis, Jennifer Russo and Katelyn Woishnis, David and Wendy Pagel, Richard and Jason Pagel and James and Andy Welch and 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by 2 sisters Lillian Gagne and Constance Maciolek and 2 brothers Arcade Boisvert and William Boisvert and 1 grandson Matthew Woishnis. Our Sincere thank you to all the staff at Mount St Vincent Care Center who lovingly cared for Mom while she lived there and made it seem a little more like home. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 10:00 AM from the Grise Funeral Home 280 Springfield St Chicopee, MA with a Mass of Christian burial to take place at 11:00 AM at Holy Name of Jesus Parish in the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in St Rose de Lima Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held on the morning of the funeral from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mount St Vincent Care Center 35 Holy Family Rd. Holyoke, MA 01040.
