Obituary

Upon her completion of a life well lived, Charlotte M. (Antones) Dias, age 97 of Taunton, passed away on July 17, 2017 at her home with her loving family by her side.
She was the beloved wife of the late John Dias, and daughter of the late Theodore Antones and Anna Perry.

Charlotte is survived by her brother William Perry; son Francis Dias and his wife Louise; grandchildren Lolita, Frank, Jeff, Martin, Alan, and Keith; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by siblings Mary Brookins, Sybil Smalls, Harry (“Chink”) Perry Jr., Flora Andrade, and Natalie Gomes; and son Gilbert Dias.

While Charlotte did enjoy music and fashionable style, caretaker defines the core of who she was. The great majority of her life was devoted to the care of others. She served her community well, rearing so many youths of the neighborhood. With gracious hospitality, she always had a full pot and open door ready to receive visitors.

Before retirement, Charlotte worked two decades as a teacher and aide for Pine Street Preschool in Taunton. She touched the lives of many through her teaching and caregiving and continues to have a place in the hearts of those she guided. Prior to that she worked in domestic services for families in the Taunton area. In her younger years Charlotte was a very active member of the Taunton Cape Verdean Association, and continued serving until illness prevented it.

She was a communicant of the Annunciation of the Lord Church and attended services into her 97th year.

Funeral will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 7:45 am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Marys Square) Taunton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in Annunciation of the Lord Church First Street, Taunton.

Visiting hours to celebrate Charlotte’s life will be held in the Silva Funeral Home on Friday, July 21st from 4 to 7 pm (additional parking with full handicap access is located on the north side of the funeral home).

Interment will follow at the Saint Joseph Cemetery.
