Obituary

MANCHESTER – Lucille S. Martineau, 64, passed away peacefully July 12, 2017 at the Cornerstone Hospice Care Center in Clermont, FL from a rare form of gall bladder cancer.

She was born in Manchester, NH on July 16, 1952 the daughter of the late Robert and Jeanne (Hebert) Laliberte. She was married to her soul mate Robert G. Martineau for 45 years. She leaves three daughters, Kelley J. Murphy and her husband Sean, Kacey I Wood-Chandler and Kristy M. Bissonnette and her husband Brian, all of Manchester,NH. She also leaves eight grandchildren, Robert J. Wood, Jeremy T. Murphy, Cole J. Chandler, George B. Chandler III, Liam SM Murphy, Sydney J. Murphy, Lilly R. Bissonnette and Holley M. Bissonnette. Her siblings, Priscilla Capillo (Leo) of Bedford, Theresa Piotrowski (Tom) of Hooksett, Claire Nuenoom and Peter Laliberte of Goffstown, Carol Martineau (Roger) and Roland Laliberte (Brenda) of Hooksett, Richard Laliberte (Linda) and Steven Laliberte of Manchester, Maurice Laliberte of Nashua, and Paul Laliberte of Upper Marlboro, MD and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Ronald Laliberte of Allenstown.

After moving to Manchester as a young girl she was in the first graduating class of Trinity High School and received her Associates degree in Accounting at New Hampshire College as an Adult Education student. She would say “Never too late to make improvements on yourself and career”. She went on to work at several local companies as a Staff Accountant and bookkeeper until her illness was discovered in December, 2016. After an unsuccessful surgery in Boston, Lucille vowed to “live until she died”. She took her first trip with a passport to Barbados and followed that trip by attending her semi-annual scrapbooking event at Purity Spring Resort in Madison.

Much of her life was dedicated to family and friends. To stay connected to her grandchildren, she and her husband planned “Memere and Pepere Day” once a week. They would spend time with one or two of their grandchildren enjoying special activities, a day at the lake, walks and playing in Manchester’s many parks, along with discovering the library and the See Science Center. As the children got older, weekend events were planned, Clarks in Lincoln was a special favorite and the bear show just amazed them. They took old time pictures, had ice cream sundaes and experienced riding the train and “watch out for Wolfman” as she held them close.

Her diagnosis left many in shock, not being able to fight (gall bladder cancer has no cure) she was inspired to create, so as visitors came over to see her she got them busy helping with a fairy village she designed and began to build in her former vegetable garden. She enjoyed the numerous daily visits and spending time laughing, reminiscing and connecting with old friends. Lucille lived the last six months of her life dreaming what she wanted to dream, going where she wanted to go, being what she wanted to be because she knew she only had one life and few chances to do all the things you dream of doing.
