Alvin “Nelson” Bailey, 76, of Omega passed away Monday, July 17, 2017, at his residence. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Bailey at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Omega Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. Wade Crumley will officiate. There will be no visitation, however, condolences or a visit will be welcomed at the Bailey residence.
Johnny Lindsey, Chet Howell, Jimmy Dollar, Steve Smith, Jess Lindsey and Willy Reyes will serve as pallbearers.
Born December 8, 1940 in Ty Ty, Mr. Bailey was the son of the late William Elton Bailey and Mildred Amanda Daniels Bailey. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Patrick Bailey. He retired from UPS after 31 years of service. Above all else, he was a devoted and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He served in the United States Navy for four years.
Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth Lindsey Bailey of Omega; one daughter, Paula Bailey Howell of Omega; two brothers, Everette Bailey of Montgomery, Alabama and James Bailey of Omega; two sisters, Kaye Bailey Medcalf and Lynda Bailey Moorman, both of Tifton; four grandchildren, Jeremy Dollar, Amanda Howell, Alexis Lara and Seth Reyes; and two great-grandchildren, McKenzie Ruth Bivins and Annica Bailey Dollar.
