Obituary

Louise Raby Minshew Bennett, 89, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, went to be with her Lord after an extended illness died on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at her niece’s residence in Irwin County.

Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Derrell Hampton officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Monday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mrs. Bennett was born October 22, 1927, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late Ron & Mary Lou Emrich Raby. She worked for the Colonial Store, A&P, JJ’s, as well as Allen’s Supermarket. She retired as head cashier from Piggly Wiggly. She lived in the community most of her life and was a former resident of Darien, Georgia and Chicago, Illinois. Mrs. Bennett was a true Christian Lady who knew her God well. She served as a foster grandparent at Lynwood School. She attended the former Northside Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Mystic.

She is survived by a grandson, Ladon & Tina Stables of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and a great-granddaughter, Brinkley Stables of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, along with several nieces and nephews including a special niece and devoted caregiver that Mrs. Bennett raised as her own daughter, Nellie Lott and her husband Charles of Ocilla and a special niece, Renea McCrimmon of Ocilla. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, A.P. Minshew and Harold Bennett; a son, David Adams, Jr.; three sisters: Aline Graham, Nellie McCrimmon, and Minnie Parker; and a brother, William “Bud” Raby.
