Arthur R. Tilton, Sr., age 77, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his adoring family, on Friday, July 14, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Louise R. (Richardson) Tilton, to whom he was wed on April 10, 1994.
Born in Brockton, MA on April 14, 1940, he was a son of the late Stanley and Yvonne (Menard) Tilton.
Arthur grew up in Stoughton and was a 1959 graduate of Stoughton High School. He attended Wentworth University and later classes at South Eastern High School where he received his certification and degree as an electrician.
Mr. Tilton truly loved his job as a electrician and prior to retiring, had worked for Local Union I.B.E.W. 103 in Dorchester
Arthur treasured times spent with his family. He was a member of the Edgewood Church of Christ in Mansfield and the South Shore Corvette Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving and devoted children Arthur R. Tilton, Jr. of Stoughton, Mark D. Tilton and his wife Debbie of Bridgewater, Scott A. Tilton and his wife Nancy of Brockton, Brockton Fire Captain Christopher R. Tilton of Brockton, Jorene E. Sloane and her husband Matt, Sr. of Kentucky and Sherrie C.Y. Olson of Kentucky. He was the cherished grandfather of Mark E. Tilton, Matthew D. Sloane, Jr., Dylan E. Olson, Kayla M. Sloane and Connor J. Sloane.
His funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday, July 18th at 10:00 A.M. in the Edgewood Church of Christ, 26 Edgewood St., Mansfield. Burial will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, July 17th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
