WEBSTER – Janet S. (Zajac) Konkel, 85, died Friday, July 14, 2017 in Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 67 years, Edward Konkel; a son, Robert E. “Bob” Konkel of Fairhaven; 2 grandchildren, Robert E. Konkel and Savannah Konkel Montiero; a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn; nieces and nephews.
She was born in Uxbridge, daughter of John and Marie (Cusson) Zajac and lived in Webster since 1934. She attended Saint Louis High School.
Mrs. Konkel was the medical records coordinator at the former Oakwood Nursing Home, retiring in 1988. She enjoyed working with crafts, taking day trip “adventures,” and going to Foxwoods. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Friday, July 21, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street with a graveside service at 11:00 AM in Mount Zion Cemetery, Worcester Road. Visitation will be from 9:15 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home Friday. Donations in her name may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452 (ALZ.org).
