Obituary

Maureen Ann (McCleary) Keough, 72, of Franklin died July 11, at Brigham& Women’s Hospital, Boston following a brief illness. She was the wife of Thomas A. Keough for the past 47 years.

Born in Springfield, December 21, 1944, the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Meagher) McCleary, Mrs. Keough was raised in Springfield and had lived in Franklin since 1970.

Fondly known as “Moesie” by those closest to her, Maureen was a graduate of Our Lady of the Elms College with a B.A. in Education. She was an elementary school teacher for the Town of Bellingham for several years before taking time to care for her children. She later became a preschool aide and, for 22 years, worked at Edwin’s in Franklin. She enjoyed crafting, watching HGTV, spoiling the family dogs Wendy, Greyhound, and Remy, and spending quality time with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Mary Kate Keough of Franklin, Thomas M. Keough and his wife Alli of Milford, and Beth Keough of Franklin. Predeceased by her sister Trisha Machado, she is also survived by her siblings Meg McCleary of St. Petersburg, FL, and Ned McCleary of Cumberland, Rhode Island.

Moesie was not only a loving mom to her children, but a maternal figure and important influence in the upbringings of her nephews and nieces, always welcoming them into her home unconditionally. The family will carry on her legacy of selflessness and warmth by sharing with her beloved grandson, Harry, the lessons she taught and principles she lived by.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, July 17 from the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street, Medway at 10:00 followed by a funeral mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Millis at 11:00 a.m.
