Obituary

Walter F. Nasatka Jr., "Skip", passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 with his family at his side.

He was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy Sorensen Nasatka, his father Walter F. Nasatka Sr., and his daughter Krista L. Nasatka.

Walter was known to most by his nickname "Skip."

Skip was a meatcutter at Stop & Shop in Groton, CT for 44 years before retiring from there. He loved his work, the people he worked with and the customers. It was a common occurrence for a customer in need of a special cut of meat to ask specifically for Skip. Some customers stopped by just to say hi. He always wore a smile and had quite a sense of humor.

Skip loved his family and all the family times and get-togethers at his home as well as at others.

Skip also loved being at home working on his property, being outside with his projects and to-do lists. He loved life in every sense, especially the summer and warm, sunny days. He would get away in his little red sports car, top down of course, enjoying every minute.

He is survived by his sisters and brothers; Patricia Clay, Donald Nasatka and Darcelle Flanagan, Thomas and Margaret Nasatka, Linda and William Palmer, Debra and Jeff Hankins; his nieces and nephews Ryan and Jessica Fleet, Jeffrey Hankins Jr., Shannon Hankins, Lexie Hankins, Andrew and Stephanie Palmer, Joseph Keaveny, Lori Clay and Thomas Clay Jr.; great nieces and nephews Taylor Ivory, Brook Ivory, Brandon Clay, Isabella Palmer and Emberlee Hankins; great great niece, Aaliyah Eley. He also leaves behind his Aunt Jean, cousins and other family members.

All funeral services are private for the family. Donations in his memory may be made to the Rhode Island American Cancer Society.
