Obituary

Richard S. Martin, 86, of North Dartmouth died peacefully July 11, 2017 at Bedford Gardens in New Bedford. He was the husband of the late Joan A. (Carrier) Martin.

Richard was formerly employed by Settipane Foundations of Dartmouth.

He was well-known at local flea markets and took great pleasure in scouring for treasures, which he later donated to others with further delight.

During the Korean War, he served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his son, Richard C. Martin; his daughter, Leslie A. Martin; his grandson, Todd Martin; his great-grandson, Liam Martin; his sister-in-law, Jeanne Carrier, all of North Dartmouth; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, Paul V. Martin and his sister, Marilyn Sylvia.

His Funeral will be held on Saturday at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 9 AM.
