Margaret V. Gorman
Of Tewksbury

TEWKSBURY: Margaret V. (Hourihan) Gorman, age 91, a resident of Tewksbury for 67 years, passed away at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington on Monday, July 10, 2017.

She was the beloved wife of John F. Gorman, with whom she would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on September 18, 2017.

Born in Everett on November 8, 1925, she was the daughter of the late John L. Hourihan and the late Margaret V. (Riley) Hourihan.

Margaret was raised in Somerville, attended Somerville schools and graduated from Somerville High School.

After high school, she and her family moved to Wilmington. Margaret worked at the former Tattersall’s Store (adjacent to Silver Lake) which was owned and operated by her family.

Following her wedding, Margaret dedicated her life to her husband and raising her three daughters.

She enjoyed many activities such as cooking, sewing, reading, and needlepoint.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Ann M. O’Hara, Patti A. McLennan and her husband Jack, and Nancy J. Maida and her husband Bob, all of Tewksbury; six grandchildren, Jack O’Hara and his wife Sue, Kristy Maida and her fiancé T.J. Forsythe, Shaun McLennan and his wife Kim, Brian O’Hara and his wife Jen, Steven Maida and his wife Laura, and Jaime McLennan-Parziale and her husband Mike; one sister, Bette Mangano and her husband Bob of Tewksbury; one brother, John L. Hourihan and his wife Sally of Tewksbury; also six great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Margaret was the mother-in-law of the late John L. “Jack” O’Hara, who passed away on November 29, 2005.

Calling hours are Thursday, July 13, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will begin on Friday, July 14, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
