Obituary

Raymond Salvatore Magliozzi, a Malden resident for fifty years, and formerly of Medford, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous, nine year battle with Alzheimer’s, on Saturday, July 8th at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford. He was eighty-six.

Born and raised in Medford, he was the son of the late Raymond and Mary (Torridi) Magliozzi, and attended local schools. In 1949, Raymond enlisted into the United States Army where he served with great honor as a Sergeant in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1952. After his discharge, Raymond married the love of his life, Celia (Loconzolo) in 1956, and together they raised their only son in the home they made in Malden.

Raymond was a long-time Malden business man and vendor at the Revere Flea Market for more than six decades. He worked tirelessly until he retired well into his eighties, when his illness would no longer allow.

Raymond will be sorely missed by his devoted family, which includes many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, extended family, lifelong childhood friends and his in-home care givers, Connie and Mara, who were instrumental in helping Raymond stay in the home he loved until his passing.

Raymond was the beloved husband of sixty-one years to Celia Ann (Loconzolo) Magliozzi. He was the devoted father of his only son Raymond Joseph Magliozzi and his wife Janet L. Magliozzi, a devoted and adoring daughter-in-law, of Malden. He was the dear brother of Richard F. Magliozzi, and is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Raymond was preceded in death by his siblings Thomas “Moose” and Lawrence Magliozzi and Louise Beucler.

His Funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Friday, July 14th at 9AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4 through 8PM. Services will conclude with interment and military honors at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Raymond's name may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452 or St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
