Obituary


Clorinda R. “Gloria” Federico, a Medford resident for over fifty years, and formerly of Boston’s North End, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, July 7th at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was ninety.

Born in Sulmona, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Frederico and Anna (DiCenso) Crognale.

Gloria was a dedicated homemaker. The matriarch of her family, she raised her children with unconditional love and support. A woman of great faith, she was devoted to our Lady along with her church, and lived her life in accordance with Christian values: love, hope and charity. Gloria was a woman of grace, who led her family by example with her integrity, dignity and honor. She was always kind, caring and wise. Gloria’s presence resonated with joy, elegance and beauty.

In her spare time, she enjoyed working in her flower garden. Her favorite flowers were red roses, hydrangeas and peonies. Gloria enjoyed hosting Sunday dinners with her family, and always made sure everyone was fed.

Gloria was the beloved wife of the late Pasquale Federico, with whom she shared many loving years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of Anne Marie Federico of Stoneham, the late Pasquale “Patsy” Federico Jr., Ronald “Ronnie” Federico, and Steven Federico. Gloria was the loving grandmother of Lorrie Federico Nader, Marissa Bordonaro, Patricia Gentile, Michele Colella, Jessica Ollila, Steven and Melina Federico as well as the loving great grandmother of nine. She was the dear sister of the late Mary Ferrante and Annette Crognale, and the cherished aunt of Diane Utano and Angelo Ferrante, both of Medford. Gloria is also survived by many other loving nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Thursday, July 13th at 9AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 through 8PM. Services will conclude with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Clorinda’s name may be sent to the charitable organization of One’s choice.
