Obituary

Luby, Donald M. on July 4, 2017, Donald M. Luby (affectionately referred to by his family as “Ga”) passed away peacefully in Wayland, Massachusetts. Don was born on November 4, 1932 to Margaret Morgan and William V. Luby in Chicago, Illinois. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Donald is survived by his devoted and affectionate wife of over sixty-one years, Donna Dolores Oakes. Don and Donna had a loving and supportive marriage and together raised a wonderful family. He is also survived by his son, Donald, of Wayland, Massachusetts, his wife, Katherine, and children, Brendon and Brittany, his son, John of Wellesley, Massachusetts, his wife, Julia, and children, John and Christina, his brother, Dr. James Luby of Dallas, Texas, and his wife, Lynne. He is predeceased by his brother William and his parents.

Don served his country as a Sargent in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Denver and had a distinctive business career spanning more than five decades. He was a longtime member of the Weston Golf Club having served on the Board of Directors. He enjoyed playing and watching golf and was an avid reader, always current with business and trends. Don was the “eternal optimist” and loved nothing more than spending time with his family and sharing his expert advice. His wife, children, grandchildren, and many friends will miss him dearly. Services and interment will be private. Donations can be made in his memory to the Disabled American Veterans or CareGroup Parmenter Home Care and Hospice through their respective websites.
