Obituary

C. Muriel (Whealan) Mack, age 89 of Attleboro and formerly of Brockton died Thursday July 6, 2017 at Life Care of Attleboro after a period of failing health. She was the loving wife of the late Alfred P. Mack for 68 years. Born and raised in Boston, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Catherine (Faulkner) Whealan. She had lived in Brockton for many years before moving to Attleboro in 1990.

Soon after her graduation from the Boston school system, Muriel married Al and raised her family of six children. In later years, she had worked as a clerk in the Brockton office of the Registry of Motor Vehicles. In her free time Muriel enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and was a talented writer. In her later years, she travelled extensively to Hawaii, Mexico, Ireland, and the Bahamas for family vacations and reunions.

For Muriel, her religion and church played an important role in her life. She will be remembered as the matriarch of the family who had a very special relationship with each of her grandchildren.

Muriel was the mother of Edward P. Mack and his wife Elaine of No. Easton; Rosie Foster and her husband John of Warwick, RI; Brian A. Mack of Brockton; David J. Mack and his wife JoAnn of Westlake Village, CA and the late Debra A. (Mack)DiGiovanni and Dennis Mack. She leaves 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and was the sister of the late Alice, Ralph, Paul, Edward and Mark Whealan.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (rte. 123) Brockton on Monday 4-7pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Tuesday at 9 am for a funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church at 10am. Burial in St. Stephen Cemetery, Attleboro.
