Obituary



George L Gagnon, a resident of Wilmington for most of his life passed away peacefully, July 7, 2017, at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford following a short illness. He was 84 years of age. George was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor I. (Goss) Gagnon. Born in Wilmington he was the son of the late Leon J. and Anna (Beauchesne) Gagnon.

George was raised and educated in Wilmington. He was a proud United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War honorably serving from 1951 to 1955. George was a talented wood worker and worked for over twenty years as a moulding maker for the Anderson McQuaid Moulding Company of Cambridge prior to his retirement. In his leisure time he enjoyed keeping busy working around his home, playing cards with friends at the Tewksbury Elks Club where he was a member. He also enjoyed spending time at the beach and traveling. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina was one of his favorite destinations. George's family would like to acknowledge the doctors, hospice nurses and staff at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital for their tremendous care given to George during his time there.

George was the devoted father of Pamela Gagnon of Georgia, Keith Gagnon of Nashua, NH, Linda Thibault of Allentown, NH, Melody Allen of Lowell, Mary Jo Christian of Maine and the late Cheryl Gagnon. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Brother of Arthur Gagnon of Florida, Madeline Bimbo of Wilmington, Theresa English of Tewksbury, Claire Sullivan of Wilmington, Yvonne Love of Tewksbury, the late Paul, Albert, Willie and Bobby Gagnon.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours at the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Tuesday, July 11th, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
