Obituary

Leonard John Amato of Saugus died on Tuesday, July 4, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center of Boston. Born and raised in Boston, he was the son of the late Vincenzo and Anna (Dattalo) Amato. Leonard proudly served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

Leonard was the beloved husband of the late Gertrude (Mahoney) Amato, and the cherished brother of Josephine Windsor of Cape Cod and her late husband Sol, Phillip Amato of Saugus and his late wife Mary, Christine LoRusso of Lynn and her late husband Daniel, Maria Salvo and her husband Charles of Florida, and Salvatore Amato of Yarmouth and his late partner George White. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Leonard will be lovingly missed by his family and many friends.

A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Tuesday, July 11, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Visiting hours have been respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in Leonard’s name to a charity of One’s choice.
