Obituary

Leonard A. (Spike) Nolan, 83, of Londonderry, NH, passed away Tuesday July 4, 2017, at Parkland Medical Center of Derry, NH. He was born November 14, 1933 in Lowell, MA and was a son of the late Albert and Marjorie (Neville) Nolan. Leonard was raised and educated in Lowell and has been a resident of Londonderry for the past 5 years and prior to that resided in Florida.

Prior to his retirement Leonard was a longtime employee of the City of Lowell. He was an avid NE sports fan and was very fond of the Red Sox and Patriots. He enjoyed spending time with his family at Lake Ossipee. He was a former Trustee and member of the East End Club and the Elks Lodge in Lowell. Leonard was a US Navy Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Randolph.

Surviving family members include his wife of 59 years Virginia M. (Fells) Nolan; one son, David L. Nolan and his wife Wendy; one daughter, Nancy McElrath and her husband Bruce F.; two grandchildren, Matthew and Tara. Also surviving are two sisters, Marjorie (Isabelle) MacShane and Lillian Horton and her husband, Eugene; sister-in-law, Marie Nolan as well as numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, William Nolan and a brother-in-law, Kenneth MacShane.

Following Cremation a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 1:00 pm at St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Road, Londonderry.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital, PO Box 1000 Department 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908. Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium is handling the arrangements.
