Obituary


Laconia - Merle F. Kincade, 94, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully at her home in the Taylor Community on Thursday, June 29, 2017.
Merle was born on March 17, 1923 in Weare, NH the daughter of Elbra Townes Fottler and Stedman Fottler. She lived in Concord, NH with her aunt and uncle, Jessie and Harold Eaton. She graduated from Concord High School in 1941 and then attended Keene Teachers College, graduating with a degree in Home Economics in 1945. She married Roy R. Kincade in 1946 and lived in Concord, Hopkinton, Sanbornton, Alton, Florida, and Laconia with her husband throughout their 71 years of marriage.
Merle worked as the Belknap County Extension Service Home Economist from 1963 until 1981. Through her work with the Extension Service, she became an associate professor at the University of New Hampshire. After her retirement, she and her husband traveled extensively throughout the world. She loved the travel adventure and learned a great deal from each new environment that she visited.
Merle was an avid golfer and resided in Florida during the winter months where she spent many hours on the golf course. She was also an accomplished artist and created beautiful works of porcelain and tin painting. She also enjoyed researching family genealogy, as well as watching the birds feed at the many feeders she placed at her different homes. She loved her family and enjoyed the company of her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Merle is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Roy R. Kincade; her daughters Sue Fay and husband Thomas Fay of Zolfo Springs, FL and Emily Spear and husband John Spear of Northfield, NH; grandchildren Jeffrey Fay of Oakfield, ME; Rebecca Fay of Saco, ME, and Bethany Bilodeau and husband Jeremy Bilodeau of Gilmanton, NH; niece Bethanne Bender and nephews Devon, Stephen, and Ross Parker. Great grandchildren include Jeb and Luke Fay, Lily and Salma Khalifa, and Jonas, Noah, Jewell, and Norah Bilodeau.
There will be a Memorial Graveside Service of burial at Park Cemetery in Tilton on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 10:00 AM.
