…retired TJX District Store Manager; 70

TEWKSBURY - Mr. Joseph R. Estee, age 70, a retired district manager at Marshall’s stores, died unexpectedly Monday morning, July 3, at Massachusetts General Hospital from complications, after successfully beating his third round of Cancer.  He was the beloved husband of Penny K. (Egnitz) Estee, with whom he had celebrated their forty-fifth wedding anniversary this past March 26th.

Joe was born in Cambridge in March 1947, a son of the late Joseph and Helen (Rose) Estee, and raised in Somerville.  He graduated from Somerville High and achieved an Associates Degree from Bunker Hill College.

He worked his way up to become a district store manager for TJX’s Marshall’s stores, in the Boston sales district.  He retired last September, after a twenty-five year career with the company.

He was a communicant of St. William’s Church.

Joe loved yard work and gardening, and kept his home and surrounding grounds immaculately groomed.

Joe devoted his life to his wife and family, adored his grandchildren, fishing and boating, was a member of Admiral Hills Marina in Chelsea, and relished giving snacks to his beloved P.J. and Gus.

Besides Penny, he leaves two children, Joseph P. Estee and Heather M. Estee both of Tewksbury; two granddaughters, Paige Carpenter of Tewksbury and Maeve Estee of Stoughton; a grandson, Joseph Connor Estee of Stoughton; a brother Kenneth Estee and his wife Mary (LaCava) of Tewksbury, several nieces and nephews; many dear friends throughout eastern Massachusetts; and was predeceased by his sister-in-law Colleen (Dennis) Estee.


Visiting hours Friday, July 7, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. His funeral will begin Saturday at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte. 38) Tewksbury.
