Obituary

Richard A. Sarcevicz (ret BFD), age 88, of Brockton and Wareham, died peacefully at his home surrounded by family and loved ones on June 28, 2017. He was the husband of the late Emily M. (Sharkus) Sarcevicz. Richard was born, raised and educated in Brockton, youngest son of the late Paul P. and Pauline E. (Swadicza) Sarcevicz. He was a Navy veteran of WWII and Korea, and for over 20 years was employed as a firefighter for the City of Brockton. Richard also worked for Intercity and Rapid Line Transportation Companies and Conley Funeral Home. He was a member of the Wareham Elks Lodge 1548 and Teamsters Local Union 653, and belonged to the Bowling League at Viking Recreation Center in East Bridgewater. Richard also enjoyed playing cards, horseshoes, boating, fishing, cooking and traveling. He loved music and would sit and listen to his records for hours and polka music on Sundays. He was fun, kind, generous, outgoing and loved by all.

Richard is survived by his children Richard A. Sarcevicz, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Bridgewater, Jennifer Silva of Raynham and Alison Lofstrom and her husband Ken of East Bridgewater; six grandchildren Daniel and Amanda Silva, Kenny and Sarah Lofstrom and Mark and Haley Sarcevicz and his longtime companion Louise Mignault of Abington. He was the brother of the late Donald Sarcevicz, Pauline Desmond, Antoinette Littleton, Frances Parenteau, Eddie and Paul Sarcevicz.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton, Wednesday, July 5 from 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Thursday at 9am for a funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10am. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
