Obituary

Kenneth R. MacDonald, 73, of Whitman, formerly of Abington, passed away on June 27th at Signature Healthcare, Brockton, with his family by his side.
Son of the late Richard and Helen (Wood) MacDonald, Ken was a 3-sport standout athlete at Abington High School.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Ellen McCarron MacDonald, his son Kenneth W. MacDonald of Whitman and his daughter Susan MacDonald Laidlaw and her husband Laurel of Halifax. He will be greatly missed by his adored grandsons Kevin and Samuel Laidlaw. Ken is also survived by his siblings, Margaret MacDonald of Whitman, Eileen Phelps and Richard MacDonald of Florida, and Stephen MacDonald of Whitman and many nieces and nephews.

Ken retired from the sheet metal industry and recently worked at Trucchi's in Abington.

His early years playing high school football under Coaches Walter Paster, John Kelly, and Jack Reilly were his most memorable, but his greatest joy in life was watching his grandsons Kevin and Sam playing youth football for Plymouth and then Silver Lake.

His memorial service will be held Sunday July 2 at 6:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 3:00-6:00 PM

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Silver Lake Youth Football 182 Summer St Box 256, Suite 6, Kingston, MA 02364 for players who need assistance with registration fees.

The family wishes to recognize the heroic efforts of Dr. Sorour and the CCU nurses and technicians at Brockton Hospital.
