Daniel J. Menezes passed away in the company of his loving family early Tuesday morning after a long illness. He was 66. Born and raised in Medford, he was the son of the late Arthur and Rita (LaFreniere) Menezes. Daniel graduated from Medford High School and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he began his own business, the Array Company which provided and designed video and electronic security surveillance systems. He also earned an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Bunker Hill Community College. Known as the “Mayor of Locust St.”, where his business is located, he was a friend to many people in Medford. He loved his home town and was a life-long student and advocate for Medford’s history. Although he lived in Wilmington for thirty years, he knew the many details of Medford’s history, especially the history of the many historic homes and properties of the city. He served on the Medford Historical Commission. Most importantly, Dan was a loving husband, father grandfather and brother.
The beloved husband of Mary E. (Hickey) Menezes, he was a devoted father to Daniel J. Menezes II of Woburn and John J. Menezes of Lowell. He was a loving grandfather to Caitlyn. He was the dear brother of Susan Staffier, Michael, Thomas, William, Patrick, Arthur, Christine Renna, Andrew, Julie Neil, Mary Stavro and the late Jackie Menezes. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Friday June 30th at 10:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 11:30 AM. Services will conclude with committal at Oak Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4 - 9 PM.
