David Henry Parkin, 60, of New Bedford died Saturday June 24, 2017 suddenly at St. Luke's Hospital.
Born in New Bedford, the son of Jane L. (Butler) Parkin and the late Henry E. Parkin, Jr., he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
David was formerly employed as a film technician at the Polaroid Corporation.
He enjoyed reading, bike riding, music, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was the go-to guy who loved to help everyone.
Survivors include his mother; three children, Erin E. Borges and her husband Adam of Fairhaven, Vickie L. Parkin and her husband Paul Ebien-Pesa of New Bedford, and Timothy J. Parkin of Freetown; his siblings, Thomas A. Parkin and his wife Carolyn of Raleigh, NC, Michael J. Parkin and his wife Renee, Jane E. Mulvey, and Kathleen P. Neves and her husband Joseph, all of New Bedford; six grandchildren, Nathan, Austin, Athena, Ava, Coraline, and Paisley; and nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Monday July 3, 2017 at 10 AM at the Acushnet Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday July 2, 2017 from 5-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
