Ed, the son of the late George and Blanche Bruer, was born in St. Louis, Missouri on March 10, 1925. He attended Fairview HS and at the age of 17 joined the US Army in 1943 during WWII, where he served as Technician Grade 5 in the 1476th Engineer’s Maintenance Company. After serving in the military, Ed worked for McDonnell Aircraft Corp and in 1953 graduated from Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, Missouri with a BS in mechanical engineering. In 1959, Ed later moved his family to Ventura to work at the Point Mugu Pacific Missile Test Center as a civil engineer, where he retired in 1981.
Ed married his love, Paula Jean Lawler, in 1950 with whom he welcomed five children into the world. Family was everything to the Bruers and his family extended into his community. Ed spent many years filming sports games for St Bonaventura High School and running Bingo Nights at Saint Bonaventure High School and served as SBHS PTG and Booster Club President. He led the Columbian Squires and Knights of Columbus, where he served as Grand Knight in 1970, and was a member of the Elks and VFW in Ventura up until his passing.
Ed found joy in fishing at June and Rock Creek Lakes, travelling the world and vacationing with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ed was a member of the recycling group in the community where he lived and spent many hours attending to his prized plumeria garden.
Ed is survived by his sister Blanche Flynn; cherished children Julianne Marie Boudreaux and Bob Pitts, Everett and Linda Bruer, Cheryl and Bob Triplett, Paul and Sue Bruer, and Andrew and Michele Bruer; and his adored grandchildren Michelle Workman, Sophie Campbell, Brittany Posadas, Ethan Bruer, Megan Triplett, Everett E Bruer IV, Austin Bruer, Kathleen Triplett, Mikayla Bruer, Matthew Bruer, and four great grandchildren.
