Obituary

Russell G. Doyle, 85, passed away on June 25, 2017 at Lahey Medical Center in Peabody after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.

He was preceded in death by his father Fred W. Doyle, mother Irene E. (Paraseau) Doyle and brother Fred Jr. of NC. He was also preceded by his first wife, Patricia R (Banton) Elliott earlier this year.

Russell was born on August 27, 1931 in Andover, MA. He was a life long resident of Andover and has been referred to as the epitome of an Andover "Townie". He graduated from Colgate University in 1953 in Hamilton, NY. He proudly served in the US Army.

Russell was President of Doyle Lumber Co., from 1955 to 1988 of Andover and was raised in front of the old business location on Chandler Road, the present location of St. Constantine and Helen Church. He served on the board of directors for several local companies, was involved deeply in the lumber industry and was a selectman in Andover from 1961 to 1963.

Russell became a member of the West Parish Church in Andover in 1946. Truly a philanthropist, he started the Russell Doyle Christian Education Fund that embraces and enhances "the good values that the church stands for". Through all, Russell always remained humble and his family always remained his overriding focus.

Russell enjoyed boating on Lake Winnipesaukee and in the Falmouth area. He also enjoyed the warmer climates of St. Maarten and Ft. Myers, FL, as well as reflecting back on his home life on Haggetts Pond.

Russell is survived by his wife since 1981 Pamela (Chambers-Hawkes), his brother A. Ray Doyle of Vermont, his son Jeffrey Doyle and his wife Cindy of Hermosa Beach, CA, Gregory Doyle and his wife Gail of Methuen. Three grandchildren, Haleigh A. Doyle of Portland, ME, Casey R. Doyle of Salem, NH, and Ryanne Romero of Hermosa Beach, CA. The family also acknowledges the love and support of his extended family, Martin and Liz Hawkes of Harvard, MA, Gavin Hawkes of Andover, and Karen and Anthony Dolan of Acton, MA.

Russell will be remembered fondly and will missed by all who touched his life. At the request of the family, all services will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the West Parish Church "Russell Doyle Christian Education Fund", 129 Reservation Rd. Andover, MA 01810.
