Obituary

Adriano “Adrian” Carvalho, age 90, passed away on June 26, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Bernice (Dovner) Carvalho.

Adrian was born in Taunton, a son of the late Antone and Irene (Carvalho) Carvalho.

Adrian served in the Army during World War II, stationed in San Francisco in 1945. He was a chauffeur for Secretary of State Edward Stettinius during the creation of the “Charter of the United Nations”. Adrian always took great pleasure when he spoke about seeing many famous actors and actresses while being stationed in San Francisco. His favorite story was about personally meeting Hedy Lamarr in his hotel lobby. Adrian loved to play guitar in his younger years, singing in harmony with his beloved Bernice. Adrian attended Northeastern University Business School while working at Reed & Barton Silversmiths in Taunton. He worked in the accounting department, later becoming a Data Processing Manager. He retired from Reed & Barton after 39 years. Adrian loved to travel especially on cruises with Bernice. But he was never more happy and content just to be in his home with his beloved family and friends. He was also an avid New England Patriots fan.

Besides his beloved wife of 68 years, he is survived by his loving son Mark A. Carvalho, a brother; William Carvalho and his wife Mel of Taunton, a sister Palmira Martin and her husband Fred of Taunton and a nephew Jonathan Carvalho also of Taunton. He is also survived by his dear friends Philip and Roxanne Gentile of Taunton, granddaughter; Sabrina Angelina Weaver, and longtime dear friend Darlene Weaver.

Adrian’s funeral will be held Friday, June 30, 2017 at 10:30 am from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) in Taunton followed by a burial in Mount Nebo Cemetery, 26 Glebe Street, Taunton.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 5 to 8 pm with a prayer service to begin at 7:30 pm in the Silva Funeral Home.
