Robert Walter Baptiste, 64, of New Bedford died Sunday, June, 25, 2017 at Hathaway Manor after a long battle with cancer.
Born in New York, NY, the son of Eva Abreu and the late Frank Joseph Baptiste, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Robert was formerly employed as a laborer in the construction industry.
He loved boxing and singing.
He survived by his mother; two children, Dajnee Baptiste and Robert W. Baptiste, Jr.; his siblings, Richard V. Baptiste, Karen Baptiste Rogers and her children Darnell and Amy, Ricardo M. Barros, Kimberly Barros, and Alexander Barros and his wife Wendy and their children, Alexander Barros II, Jasmine Barros, Isaiah Barros, Kendall Armstrong, and Cindy Armstrong; his stepfather, Richard Barros; his aunt, Lollie Nye; his special cousin, Benjamin Baptiste; a granddaughter; and several cousins.
He was the brother of the late Michael L. Baptiste, Frank Joseph Baptiste, Jr., and Jeffrey Baptiste, nephew of the late Thelma Baptiste; and grandson of the late Edna and Augusto Abreu.
His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 10 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4-8 PM. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
