Obituary

In Taunton, June 25, 2017 Raymond Thompson, Age 81, passed away in Morton Hospital following a brief illness with his loving wife by his side. Raymond was the husband of Jane (Moore) Thompson of North Dighton and his late wife Joanne (Murray) Thompson. He was born in Taunton, the son of Herman Thompson and Agnes (Spillane) Thompson. He was educated in Taunton schools and a graduate of Taunton High School and Bridgewater State College. Raymond served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Marines. He worked in the Canton Public High School as the director of the social studies department. Raymond was an avid golfer and a longtime member of the Segregansett Country Club. In addition to his wife, Raymond also leaves his children, Jeffrey M. Thompson and his wife Jennifer of Puerto Rico and Susan Thompson of Taunton. He also leaves his grandchildren Agnes, Blaze, Kyle and great grandson Damon Thompson and his step grandchildren Stephen, Trisha and David Affonce, and his step great granddaughter Emmalyn Affonce and his late grandson Douglas William Thompson. He is survived by his sister Mary Lou Klemme, his late brother Herman Thompson and also leaves several nieces and nephews. A private funeral service and burial at Bourne National Cemetery will be held. The arrangements are under the direction of the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home in Taunton. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Raymond's memory to the Charity of One's Choice.
