Obituary

WAYLAND: Lloyd E. Anthony, 87, passed away peacefully at home beside his two children on June 17, 2017. A 53 year resident of Wayland, he was born in Waltham, the only son of Alvin K. and Ethel (Cahoon) Anthony.
He was married for 43 years to the late Virginia (Hall) Anthony, and is survived by his son David L. Anthony and his wife Kristin of Lunenburg and his daughter Amy E. (Anthony) Griswold and her husband Steven of Upton.
Lloyd was a graduate of Waltham High School, attended Boston University, and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Babson College. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, and proudly served in the U.S. Navy on board the heavy cruiser USS Newport News. Lloyd spent his entire 37 year banking career with the Baybank Organization (now Bank of America), until retiring in 1994. He served on the Board of Directors for the Waltham and Maynard Chambers of Commerce, also serving as Treasurer of the Waltham Chapter of the American National Red Cross for 20 years. Lloyd was a long time member of the Community United Methodist Church in Wayland where he served on the Finance Committee. He enjoyed preparing hot meals at the church to be served at the Bristol Lodge/Waltham Soup Kitchen. He also served on the Supervisory Board of the United Methodist Federal Credit Union. Lloyd was a member of the Waltham Triad Lodge A.F. & A.M.
Lloyd was a loving and doting grandfather to his three grandchildren who loved him endlessly, Chad P. Anthony, of Lunenburg, Abigail L. and Andrew L. Griswold of Upton. Lloyd also dearly loved his nieces, nephews and extended family in NJ and PA as well as several cousins residing in Canada. Time spent with family and friends was precious to him. Lloyd also leaves his beloved friend and companion, Barbara Baker.
A celebration of Lloyd’s life will take place on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Community United Methodist Church, 5 Damon Street (corner of Damon St. and Route 27), Wayland, MA 01778.
