John J. Wright, 79, formerly of Whitman and Jensen Beach, Florida died June 21st surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Boston, MA the son of the late John J. and Margaret (Donahue) Wright. “Jack” was a graduate of Boston English High School and had a 45 year career in the banking industry with Shawmut Bank and later with State Street Bank.
He was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus Council #347 in Whitman. An avid golfer and horse shoe player in his retirement he loved to split his time between Florida and Cape Cod. Learning what all his grand kids were up to and spending time with family and friends were his favorite activities.
He was the husband of Elizabeth Wright for the past 53 years. He was the brother of Agnes Wright of Medford, Margaret Finnegan of Holbrook, Marie Joyce of Dorchester, the late Helen Wright of Abington and the late James Wright of Plymouth. He leaves behind five sons, John Wright of Hanson, Steve Wright of Halifax, Keith Wright of Carver, Kevin Wright of Abington, Brian Wright of Hanson, thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday June 27th at 8:15 a.m. from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Joseph the Worker Church, Hanson. Burial will follow at the Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson. Visitation will be held on Monday June 26th from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
