Fernando Desousa, age 87, passed away on June 21, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Carregal, Portugal on April 26, 1930 to the late Joaquim and Carolina (Emilia) de Sousa. He was a parishioner of Holy Name in Chicopee. Fernando enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Chicopee Portuguese Club. He leaves his loving wife of 61 years Felicidade (Ribeiro) Desousa of Chicopee; two sons, Luis Sousa and his wife Maria C. of Chicopee and Armando Sousa and his wife Maria E. of Chicopee; one daughter, Rosa Costa and her husband Diamantino of Chicopee; six grandchildren, Daniel Sousa, Sergio Costa, Pedro Costa, Jeffery Sousa, Jason Sousa and Mareena Sousa and seven great grandsons. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11:30 AM from the Grise Funeral Home 280 Springfield Street Chicopee, MA with a Mass of Christian Liturgy to take place at 12:00 PM at Holy Name Parish in the Assumption Church in Chicopee. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held on the morning of the funeral Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 8:30 AM until 11:30 AM at the funeral home.
